NEW DELHI – Senior Congress MP Pramod Tiwari has launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission (EC), alleging a “dangerous alliance” between the poll body and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking to reporters in the capital, Tiwari questioned why BJP spokespersons consistently act as a shield for the EC whenever allegations are raised against its functioning.
“If the allegations are against the Election Commission, then why do BJP spokespersons defend them?” Tiwari asked, suggesting that the two entities are working in tandem. He further alleged that the BJP’s electoral successes since coming to power have been fueled by “dishonesty,” claiming that the current state of affairs poses a direct threat to Indian democracy.
The Congress leader emphasized that the perceived lack of neutrality from the EC has created an atmosphere of distrust. Referring to the ongoing electoral process, he urged the public and the media to exercise patience, stating, “We should wait for the 4th,” hinting at high expectations or potential revelations on the day of the results.
