A major travel upgrade is expected for Jammu & Kashmir as regular Vande Bharat Express service between Jammu and Srinagar may begin from May 2. Once operational, the train is likely to complete the journey in less than five hours, making it one of the fastest and most comfortable ways to travel between the two cities.
The service is expected to provide a dependable all-weather transport option, especially during seasons when highway travel is affected by snowfall, landslides, or traffic delays. Rail connectivity is seen as a big advantage for local residents, tourists, business travelers, and pilgrims visiting the region.
The route will run through the newly completed railway corridor linking the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. Passengers will also travel across some of the country’s most remarkable railway structures, including the famous Chenab Rail Bridge and Anji Bridge.
Reports suggest multiple services may operate during the day, improving convenience and offering flexible travel timings. Railways are also expected to deploy higher-capacity coaches to meet rising demand.
