A shocking incident from Odisha’s Keonjhar district has sparked public outrage after a man reportedly brought his deceased sister’s skeletal remains to a bank branch to prove that she had died. He had been trying to withdraw money from her account, but the process was delayed over documents, according to multiple reports.
The man, identified in reports as Jeetu Munda, reached the Odisha Grameen Bank’s Maliposi branch carrying the remains of his sister, Kalra Munda, who had died in January 2026. Reports say he was trying to access about Rs 19,300 to Rs 20,000 from her account.

According to the reports, bank officials had asked for proper legal documents, such as a death certificate or legal heir papers, before releasing the money. Munda said he had been frustrated after repeated visits and claims that the account holder needed to be present, which led him to take the extreme step.
